2005-01-28 [Moorn]: That sounds perfect to me. Of course I'm not the man around here (or woman as the case is). Hmm...
2005-01-28 [Nightshadow]: The dueling arena is kind of useful, but it would be more efficient as a part of this page. That is, have "dueling" and "awaiting challenger" categories listed. I vote to kill participating duelists.
2005-01-28 [Moorn]: Alright guys, I've taken the liberty of making something... please have a look at ETWPDA. It's a template for a refined setup of the current poetry arena's main page.
2005-01-28 [Nightshadow]: Your borders are lovely...but they don't match the color of the banner, and I think they're too distracting. Have anything thinner? :) Anyway...Yeah. I like that set up a lot.
2005-01-28 [Moorn]: the borders are fluff. I'm not concerned about them. It's the setup that I want to know about.
2005-01-28 [Moorn]: I fixed the borders. They're better now.
2005-01-28 [Nightshadow]: Very, very pretty. *nods*
2005-01-28 [Tal Anduril]: The page looks good, care to prettify the boarders on the other pages to match? (Perhaps a screaming neon yellow for that one line on the duelists submissions page... people are still often confused by what "below this line" means at times.)
2005-01-28 [Nightshadow]: *grins* I've given up on that bit, Tal...but good luck.
2005-01-29 [Moorn]: If that's what everyone wants, that's what I'll do. ^_^ Hmm... I have some thoughts. ^_^
2005-01-30 [Tal Anduril]: LOL @ "the line"
2005-01-30 [Moorn]: Mkay, ladies and ladies, it's sunday again, and though I know it's early, I want to make sure that everybody's aware of that. o.o ^_^
2005-01-30 [Nightshadow]: Liar! It is...DayafterS
2005-01-30 [Tal Anduril]: Just a thought, I'm ok with the permanent lines being the new boarders, but the ones that are temporary (ie the ones seperating the peoms that are awaiting a chance to duel) would probably just be better as regular <hr> since they're being added and deleted so often.
2005-01-30 [Karisla Sorium]: hey i won my duel...
2005-01-30 [Karisla Sorium]: old news perhaps?
2005-01-30 [Moorn]: *yawns* Hello again everyone. As you can see, Tari gave me the go ahead to purtify the main page, and to remove Participating Duelists and The Dueling Arena. That said, when you update your category, you can delete the link to the Dueling Arena in each individual category. ^_^
2005-01-31 [Moorn]: Oh, and as for the borders between waiting poems, yeah, you're probably right Tal. So everyone just use the <hr> tags for the temporary dividers. But I did do a lot of work on the pages, so please keep the permanent ones in place.
2005-01-31 [Nightshadow]: They look awesome. This setup is much easier to deal with. ^_^
2005-01-31 [SeLoCeS]: nice job the place looks great
2005-01-31 [Moorn]: Okay. *shakes the dust out from between his ears* Thanks to Tal and whoever updated Deep Thoughts this time around for keeping up on your category updates. And thanks of course to those of you who didn't have to. *wink* I thinkI got all the rest taken care of this time around, and fixed the mix-up at -Love..] where we apparently had three dueling poems. o.O
2005-01-31 [Moorn]: Forgive my typos, as it's 8AM on monday morning right now, and I haven't slept. Now, I wanted to ask you all something... Fantasy has been tied for several weeks, and there is a poem awaiting a duel in that category. I'd like to see if we can figure a way to break that tie: perhaps by opening a new wikipoll, or doing a panel vote, or something like that, out of respect to the waiting poet. Any thoughts?
2005-02-05 [Digital Fortress]: Um.. I was wondering exactly how do you submit the poems? Do you just post them on the page under the catagory? I read the rules and everything, I just don't really understand how you submit. How do you know the poem's status?
2005-02-05 [Moorn]: Once you've read the rules you can find a link on that page that will link you to the Duelist Submissions Page. Instructions for posting are there. ^_^
2005-02-05 [Digital Fortress]: do I just post my poem underneath the one that's already there? And how do you know the poem's status?
2005-02-05 [Digital Fortress]: nm
2005-02-06 [Moorn]: hm... that's a good idea. ^_^ I hadn't thought of the awaiting sunday thing.
2005-02-06 [Nightshadow]: Spiffiness. Nice, Tal. ^_^
2005-02-06 [SeLoCeS]: come on people i need someone to submit a Realistic Poem who is willing to challenge
2005-02-06 [Moorn]: Personally, I'm kind of iffy on the designation of Realistic, despite having read the about the categories page. *shrugs*
2005-02-06 [SeLoCeS]: mm you iffy on the designation, really??
2005-02-06 [SeLoCeS]: mmm i just read the categories page and to tell you the truth i think realistic has been unfairly stated, it takes a strong minded person to write with realism not a misfit
2005-02-06 [Moorn]: I don't think it means that the writers are misfits, I think it just means that the poems are misfits, in that they don't really fit in the other categories but carry a realistic vibe. Still, I can't figure out what kind of poem that might be. o.o
2005-02-06 [SeLoCeS]: mm i guess you could be right though i must say it didnt not read like that to me, as for finding that kind of poem i guess you know it when you read it , if you know what i mean
2005-02-06 [Nightshadow]: The category descriptions are for poems. Therefore it should be assumed that said descriptions pertain to poems, and not their authors.
2005-02-13 [Tal Anduril]: I would like to take this oppertunity to remind every who would like to enter (or who has, but can't seem to read) that we do have rules at this wiki. They are listed at:
2005-02-14 [Moorn]: I think that takes care of this week's stuff. [Orestez] is due a one-time winner badge, which I would've sent, but my computer for some reason won't let me copy/paste the img:location. Someone please take care of that. Also, this coming week I'm taking a break from janitorial duty around here. Here's hoping that my category gets an entry. ^_^
2005-02-14 [♥Flames♥]: woah, no kinda looking at me...meh used it.
2005-02-15 [Tal Anduril]: [Orestez] seems to have gotten the badge, at least he had one posted at his house when I last stopped by.
2005-02-15 [Moorn]: Cool. ^_^ Thanks to whoever got to it.
2005-02-26 [Moorn]: Hello again, everyone. Now, to all of you who update the categories *cough*... in a continuing bid to make updating less complicated and thus get more people to frickin' do it, the winning duelists page no longer requires you to tally a poet's wins by category. Instead, it just has a listing for the total wins that each poet has accumulated. ^_^ You're welcome.
2005-02-26 [Starna]: Not that I really care, but that seems a needless step backwards to save minimal time. You're still only updating one number per win, and since it goes by moderator-per-
2005-02-26 [Moorn]: Are you an arena boss? No? Are you one of the people who has to clean up after everyone else's categories every week? No? That's what I thought. There are about four of us taking care of this whole damn thing. So do me a favor, the next time you don't really care but feel the need to question something that doesn't apply to you in any way, keep it to yourself. Okay?
2005-02-26 [Nightshadow]: Less specific, and easier to look at and tell overall stats? If you want to maintain as is, then by all means, create a page and maintain it yourself. [Tal Anduril] and [Moorn] are both working very hard to try and secure all the shortcuts they can, trying to encourage people to update more often. Cut them a break. ;)
2005-02-26 [Starna]: Whatever, my comment wasn't personal. If you're going to get upset that easily, maybe you should deactivate the comment section. Your close-mindedne
2005-02-26 [Moorn]: I wasn't making it personal, merely pointing out that what you're criticizing is something beyond your right to criticize. Seriously. If you want to have a winner's page run the way you want, feel free to make your own arena. Once you've done that, you can do whatever you like with it. In the meantime, if you're going to suggest something here, do it without starting the suggestion with 'not that I really care'. The first reason that your idea is being ignored is that you're being an ass about it. The second reason is that you have absolutely no say in the matter and your criticisms of something that'll save a little time are falling upon deaf and uncaring ears.
2005-02-26 [Moorn]: Ahem. That said, the main reason the winners page was simplified was for badge-giving purposes. It's not time intensive, no, but it is irritating to have to go 'let's see, two wins here, one there, four there, distraction, where was I, two here..." to tally wins for badges. Once again. Not that it matters. If you don't like the way it's done, feel free to take your work and your comments to one of the many other dueling arenas around elftown. ^_^
2005-02-26 [Karisla Sorium]: some people...
2005-02-27 [Starna]: I don't care anymore. You seem more determined to take offense at it than to consider anything I said. Saying "go run your own, cause you have no say here since you aren't in charge" is hypocritical and cyclical logic. Staring my own won't change how this one is kept track of.
2005-02-27 [Nightshadow]: No, but it will give you something else bitch about. If you dont' care anymore, then this coveted "logic" thing says to simply stop responding. Have a nice night.
2005-02-27 [Starna]: You have a whole page asking for help, meaning you believe other people have things to contribute. You have a big bold title telling people to post comments in the comment section. But when I do, when I contribute, you all give me crap. You've called me an ass, and said I was bitching for pointing something out, so I've lost the desire to be polite. What 22 year old can't add 4 categories of numbers together. saying 1+14 is not much better than 1+5+6+3=15 and if you get pissed off at people who expect you to add 4 numbers, youve got more problems than with math. You don't even have things that complex very often.
2005-02-27 [Starna]: You cling to your idea for no other reason than because you thought it up and don't want to be incorrect. You act like a bunch of kids trying to get in the last word, because that will somehow make you right. Have it your way. Please remove me from my current duel. I will be advising others to take their poetry elsewhere. I refuse to associate with and promote this attitude.
2005-02-27 [Moorn]: *shrugs* I'm sure you'll be missed. But once again, you're the one who started you're little suggestion with 'not that I care' and calling things needless. There are other ways to suggest stuff. Also, it wasn't my idea. I am glad you're leaving though. It saves me the trouble of listening to you make incorrect assumptions. Thanks for sparing me the trouble of making a fool of you. You did a much better job than I could have.
2005-02-27 [Moorn]: For anyone else who would like to suggest a change or improvement to the arena, please keep in mind that acting like a prima donna is the surest way to have your ideas ignored. Had Starna here been polite from the get go instead of acting like he was doing us a favor, he would have been listened to. ^_^
2005-02-28 [Moorn]: In updating To Make You Think ... I did as Spartacus, er, Starna, requested, and counted his forfeit. However, I did leave his poems in the other categories and his name at the winners page, until I'm told otherwise.
2005-02-28 [Moorn]: Oh, and Deep Thoughts has been taken care of as well, with the exception of the winner/loser notification, by [Askoga]. She had to leave early tonight, but the notification will be taken care of tomorrow. ^_^ She's a sweet person, and tentatively slated to handle Deep Thoughts unless someone has another idea. ^_^
2005-02-28 [Tal Anduril]: Please be nice everyone, there's far to much hate and anger in the world to argue over something so silly as this, it's meant to be fun, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
2005-02-28 [Moorn]: Hey. Everybody go hug Tari, she's back! And we missed her. ^_^
2005-02-28 [Tári Nénharma]: ^_^ Glad to be back.
2005-02-28 [Nightshadow]: Hi, Tari! :D
2005-02-28 [Moorn]: Mkay. Thanks much to [Nightshadow] for helping with the janitorial stuff tonight! And there's something I'd like to pose to all of you... especially the arena bosses; what you all say to enforcing some kind of mandatory spelling/gramm
2005-02-28 [Dil*]: Aww, that's too bad that [Starna] is leaving, I liked his stuff. One arguement and he leaves? -_-;
2005-02-28 [Nightshadow]: Well, he still has all of his badges posted, so hopefully that's a legitimate strike against finality.
2005-02-28 [Nightshadow]: Also, I agree with [Moorn] about making general spelling and (more limited, of course) grammar part of the stipulations for accepting poetry.
2005-03-01 [Tári Nénharma]: Thanks [Nightshadow] and [Moorn], you guys are tops. This morning it was all done... couldn't believe my eyes... as far as spelling goes... I have an idea.
2005-03-01 [Nightshadow]: We await your intuitive genius, Tari. ^-^ And you're welcome!
2005-03-01 [Moorn]: *smiles a little* I'm looking forward to it.
2005-03-01 [Moorn]: Well... that's a good idea, with the poll.
2005-03-01 [SeLoCeS]: nods her head yep it was a good idea, great idea Tari
2005-03-01 [Moorn]: Everybody, I was going to wait to do this, but I changed my mind. In light of recent... occurences... I'd like to request that you remove me from the list of arena bosses and helpers. Because I am a person who cannot hold my tongue when I believe I'm in the right, and what happened with Starna is likely to happen again, I feel this place might be better off without me. Tal and Tari, if you really need a hand with updating, you can message me and I'll help you, but otherwise, I wish all of you the best of luck. Thank you for being kind to me.
2005-03-02 [Tal Anduril]: I'll be sad to see you go, but I'll respect your choice.
2005-03-03 [Karisla Sorium]: hum-de-ho-hum.
2005-03-03 [SeLoCeS]: Moorn I hope you still will come and visit, I dont think you should give it up in the first place over such a small tiff but your choice is your choice.
2005-03-04 [Nightshadow]: It's not just this incident, SeLoCeS. It's been causing him some stress for awhile, and I'm personally glad to see him relieve himself of that. He's been trying hard to get this place back on its feet, i.e. get the bosses actually working again, and week after week, it just doesn't work, leaving hours of work on Sundays, whether for him, Tari, or Tal. It is supposed to be fun, and I'm glad to see he's giving it up.
2005-03-04 [SeLoCeS]: oh well ok then
2005-03-04 [Tal Anduril]: That is the unfortunate reality of it. It pretty much takes all of 15 min. (if that) to update a category, so no biggie. The problem is when one person, or even two or three have to do all them. Basically a 15 min. task, turns into a three hour job.
2005-03-07 [Tal Anduril]: I'm off work tomorrow, so any categories that arn't done then, I'll tend to.
2005-03-17 [Tári Nénharma]: Tal, I owe you a lot. And all the bosses, really. It's been a strange turn of events this week as always; but I'm hoping that with any luck I'll do janitorial this Sunday night (3/20).
2005-03-21 [SeLoCeS]: realistic is a draw again good luck for next week people
2005-03-21 [Solitiaum]: OMG Look how my baby has grown! Sela, its Aethe, wowza, look what you guys have done with the place!! :O!
2005-03-22 [Karisla Sorium]: man...this is really quite upsetting the lack of interest...eve
2005-03-22 [LonelyTylenol]: I think we need a criticism page. Personally, I'd like to know people's actual thoughts on my poems. If there's page for comments on the actual poems, that would be helpful... Though I don't know how that could be set up without the risk of people voting based on reasons given in a comments section.
2005-03-22 [Nightshadow]: That's a superb idea, [LonelyTylenol]. I'll see what can be scrapped together, and whether the Tari-Tal crew thinks it should be part of this page. :)
2005-03-25 [Karisla Sorium]: :)
2005-03-25 [Tal Anduril]: I'm not opposed to comments, just trying to think of the best way to go about it. The 3 ways I'm kicking around at the moment are a) Have the caretaker enable comments for the dueling pages, where comments would be deleted after each duel (though some people might be influenced by the remarks, that's pretty much the down side to that one.) or b) creating a seperate wiki page for each poem, probably tied to the title, and just allow people to post there (just wondering how hard it would be to find free pages, if the title is rather common) or c) Have a special page set aside for the poems dueling that week, that would be reused with each new duel (probably the most high maitance of them).
2005-03-26 [Nightshadow]: I think it might work a little better this way...mention a few concerns, too. EWPDA Constructive Criticism Center
2005-03-28 [Realistic]: hi people, Realistic is a draw again this week, can i please get some people voting in there as i have a new poem waiting to duel ta for listening and good luck to all those dueling this week
2005-04-04 [Tári Nénharma]: It's Sunday!! That means time for another update. I'll clean the board at 3 AM CDT, whatever's left.
2005-04-06 [wildCARD]: Hmm... Long time no duel, here... I shall post. Although, I'd appreciate it if you all checked out my new home (cause Elftown pales in comparison), http://weffjeb
2005-04-06 [Nightshadow]: Elftown pales in comparison to DeviantArt? Riiiight. ;) *would take ET any day*
2005-04-06 [wildCARD]: Sure, if you like a painfully shitty way of putting your stuff out there with little to no feedback or availability, then okay, fine, Elftown kicks DA's ass. (by the way, new poem posted)
2005-04-06 [Nightshadow]: Apples to oranges. DA is comparable to Elfwood, not Elftown...ET's primarily function isn't to serve as a means to showcase pictures and prose. It's a place to get to know other people who share interests and also post elsewhere. Particularly in Elfwood, but anywhere, really.
2005-04-08 [wildCARD]: Yeah, that's what I said. Elftown pales in comparison when it comes to showing my work. Why did you argue?
2005-04-08 [wildCARD]: Hmm. In response to the poll, I don't think I'd like that at all... Unless you guys are willing to leave intentional typos alone, but that's just more work on my part to let whoever might be catching it and posting it know.
2005-04-08 [Nightshadow]: Because you, Master wildCARD, never drew that distinction.
2005-04-08 [Starna]: Nice poem, wildCARD.
2005-04-09 [Doormat]: Hmm...I guess I might try DeviantArt then
2005-04-11 [blackenedrose*]: lol, deviant art...*remeber
2005-04-12 [Dil*]: elfwood pisses me off sometimes.
2005-04-17 [Karisla Sorium]: we're dying guys :(
2005-04-17 [Askoga]: o.o Are we?
2005-04-24 [Tal Anduril]: Sorry I haven't been on, I've got net access at the moment, probably won't have it tomorrow, so I'll go ahead and update things as they stand. (The ones that were set to end last week that is). I'm hoping I'll have things under control by next Sunday. We'll see how that goes though.
2005-05-01 [Karisla Sorium]: *sigh*
2005-05-07 [blackenedrose*]: y are we dying??....kar
2005-05-11 [Tal Anduril]: We're low on submission, people arn't updating their categories (myself included this last week); people arn't voting, among other things. I personally do apologize for not being on, spent the last few hours on the phone with tech support getting my net up.
2005-05-11 [LonelyTylenol]: Well, during the summer, I'll probably be able to help with late updating. Sundays probably won't be good for me, but in the summer, no school... always helpful, and I'll be far more likely to vote in more categories.
2005-05-11 [Nightshadow]: So with ET dead last Sunday, are we just going to let things stand till Sunday?
2005-05-11 [Tal Anduril]: Might as well, my category was tied for the week (again) anyway; haven't had a chance to check the rest.
2005-05-15 [Darg.]: Hey I would love to join but can only get on on the weekends, is that ok?
2005-05-15 [Tal Anduril]: Submissions are open any time, if you mean, joining as in helping maintaining the wiki, please send me a message.
2005-05-18 [SeLoCeS]: I was thinking what about an comp for those who have won in the duels before. I mean like a champions duel
2005-05-22 [Tal Anduril]: Possible I guess, we'll see how it goes though. I'll try to get the categories up to date tomorrow; and see how it goes from there.
2005-05-27 [LonelyTylenol]: You guys, Tari's in Spain right now and going to be there for about another 5 weeks. Perhaps someone else's name could go in there for now... I don't think she'll be coming on Elftown between now and then. (Tari, if you see this, feel free to correct me).
2005-06-06 [Tal Anduril]: Ok well the poll been up long enough IMHO, if the person approving the poem feels that there should be changes, they will first message the person with the proposed changes, (and it'll be up to the submitter to change them or not.) Once the changes have been made (or the author has replied, saying they do not wish them to be made) the poem will then be approved and placed on it's respective page.
2005-06-06 [Tal Anduril]: Secondly, after this next weeks duels are concluded (June 12th) I'm going to put the wiki on hold for awhile. We will still be accepting submissions, I just can't keep updating the categories by myself. Dueling will resume when help can be found, if you're interesting in helping send me a pm. If you want to know what you'd be volunteering for go to How to Update, honestly each category takes all of 15 mins to update (often times it's even less than that), it only becomes a hardship when one or two people have to do all the work. That said if you are already pledged to help, I will send you a pm asking if you are still interested in helping maintain the wiki.
2005-06-06 [Tal Anduril]: If I don't hear back from you in a weeks time, I'll assume the answer is a no.
2005-06-06 [Tal Anduril]: Thirdly, categories were created because you, the people, asked for them. However, some haven't attraced enough interest, and in an effort to minimized the number of individuals needed to keep this going, the following changes will be made: Sci-fi will be combined with Fantasy, and Humor will be combined with Jovial. I will message those who have submitted poems to the terminated categories, it is up to them to decide if they wish for their poem to duel where it will be placed.
2005-06-06 [Tal Anduril]: For awhile now, this wiki has been more than a single person can handle, I've asked for help, and have gotten it in spurts that tend to trickle to nothing without notice. I too have a life, and I understand that life has responsiblitie
2005-06-13 [SeLoCeS]: Good luck to everyone dueling this week
2005-06-13 [Nightshadow]: Um...thanks, SeLoCes, but I believe that all duels were meant to be stagnant this week.
2005-06-14 [Tal Anduril]: It's ok, honestly haven't been home since Friday myself, working on getting my transportation issues resloved. After this next week though the duels will end for a while, really we only need a three more people to volunteer at this point. So if you know of someone who's interested have them send me a message.
2005-06-14 [Nightshadow]: Gotcha. :)
2005-06-14 [SeLoCeS]: im more than happy to keep updating any that dont have people i have been waiting for realistic for so long i always come in anyways if you still want to put them on hold i will leave them be, just let me know what you want anyways. You know where to find me...
2005-06-16 [Tal Anduril]: Lets put them on hold once this round is done, for a few weeks anyway. Feel free to advertise in the mean time though, never hurts to have a new set of victims.
2005-06-23 [blackenedrose*]: 'allo ppl im back in town!
2005-06-23 [LonelyTylenol]: I take it we're not updating this weekend? If I'm wrong, someone will have to update for me, because I'm going to be at band camp (GEEK!).
2005-06-24 [Tal Anduril]: The wiki is on hold this week, and until July. I'll post an official start date when I have one, likely at the begining of July at this point.
2005-06-24 [LonelyTylenol]: Okay. Well, I'm gone until July second. I don't know if that means I'll be missing and update. Actually, I'll be gone until about midnight that night... (but since I don't know what day of the week that is, it might not even matter).
2005-06-26 [Tal Anduril]: Well the day after that would be the first Sunday of the month, right now I'm tentatively setting this wiki to reopen July 10th. I'll send reminder pm's out to all the mods, and anyone else who happens to request one a few days in advance.
2005-07-04 [Karisla Sorium]: hello? all right, well does that mean my poem is still there and is on hold? (its aggravating me...)
2005-07-04 [once you fall in love, that's it!!]: yea its aggravating me too
2005-07-05 [Nightshadow]: Yes, your poem is safe and on hold. And to anyone relevant: be aggravated all you want. It's "aggravating" to spend three hours updating the arena because none of the bosses are doing it. It's "aggravating" when there are more categories sitting stagnant than with challengers because everyone takes the arena for granted and no one sees it fit to enter "right now." This was a thought-out, necessary pause in the Arena's life, when we can rebuild, recruit, and re-train--and was put off more than once--not some snap decision or vacation declaration.
2005-07-05 [Tal Anduril]: Well put.
2005-07-06 [Karisla Sorium]: *pinches lips*...I hadn't meant any offence...its just odd that its been so many months, and to be honest I've hardly written anything lately...a bit of a dry spell...can I duel myself? :P
2005-07-06 [Karisla Sorium]: There now I've submitted three of my latest poems, that means I have three poems awaiting evaluation, and one poem awaiting challenger...I do hope we will restart soon...
2005-07-06 [Askoga]: Remember that helpers are probably also still needed, hun. Just poems aren't enough to keep this wiki going if there isn't enough help.
2005-07-07 [Tal Anduril]: In response to Kari's question. In the past, we have not allowed poems by the same artist to duel against each other.
2005-07-07 [Karisla Sorium]: makes sense eh...either way the duelist would get a prize ;)...and helpers..shoot :(...that I can't help with...*sigh*
2005-07-08 [Karisla Sorium]: maybe i just maybe can...give me a couple more days
2005-07-10 [Tal Anduril]: I'll be getting the wiki ready to go later tonight, so it should be ready for people to set up duels Sunday morning.
2005-07-10 [Karisla Sorium]: okay...has anyone contacted you Tal?
2005-07-10 [Tal Anduril]: To help? I've gotten a couple of offers. Main thing is to find a time when we're on to train. At the moment. I've got one (possibly two) meeting me tomorrow on Yahoo, to train.
2005-07-10 [Tal Anduril]: Ok, the wiki is set and ready to go, as far as I know. If you find a dead link, or something that's missing, misplaced or just otherwise odd let me know and I'll fix it if I can.
2005-07-10 [Nightshadow]: Spiffy. Hopefully everythign will be in order now. ^^
2005-07-11 [Karisla Sorium]: Great! :D...
2005-07-25 [Tal Anduril]: Dark was tied last week, vote if you haven't already.
2005-08-01 [Tal Anduril]: Love... was tied last week, vote if you haven't already.
2005-08-01 [Askoga]: Obviously I'm guilty, too, but there were no votes in To Make You Think ... last week. Please vote...
2005-08-01 [Nightshadow]: Good work, folks! Sad has four votes now. ...unfortunate
2005-08-15 [Askoga]: Dark was tied again. Please vote if you haven't yet
2005-08-23 [Shyest]: Sorry if it's not my place to announce, but Jovial has been tied for two weeks, so please vote!
2005-08-23 [Askoga]: Oh, it's fine that you announced it, I'm sure. To Make You Think ... was tied last week, too. Please vote.
2005-08-25 [Dil*]: question: Someone messaged me saying that my poem tied with the other one in the category sad, but no new polls has been put up and mine appears to be winning
2005-08-25 [Askoga]: It could be that the category has yet to be updated this week, or it could be that people have voted since Sunday.
2005-08-25 [Askoga]: Also note that if there's a tie, usually a new poll isn't set up, since presumably people have already voted which ever way they're going to vote, and will vote the same way again if there's a new poll.
2005-08-29 [Askoga]: I'm sorry to have to say this, guys, but this week I had to close another category. We really need more poems.
2005-09-01 [Dil*]: ok.
2005-09-02 [Dil*]: no problem.
2005-09-02 [Dil*]: when the heck are they going to end the sad duel? o.o
2005-09-02 [Shyest]: Oops, deleted my thanks :). Thanks Dilandu!
2005-09-02 [Dil*]: haha.
2005-09-03 [Nightshadow]: _Dilandau_: Both weeks I sent you "tied" messages, it was true. Once at 1, once at 4. Last week it just slipped my mind until late Monday. I'm human, and dealing with the hundreds of things a wrong schedule going into a college semester entails. It will be ended Sunday. Relax.
2005-09-03 [Dil*]: Sorry, I was inconsiderate.
2005-09-03 [Nightshadow]: Meh..sorry to snap. I'm still tense. It will be updated sunday, though...I have a sticky note on my monitor. ^^;
2005-09-04 [Dil*]: Nah, it wasn't snappy at all.
2005-09-18 [Perish]: Um, is Jovial over, or can I still vote on it if I want to? If you've been super busy and just haven't updated it yet I can totally understand.
2005-12-07 [blackenedrose*]: i know i havent been around much but can this wiki not be opened again?
2005-12-08 [Nightshadow]: This wiki will not be reopened, [blackenedrose*], if it's going to just be taken for granted and ignored again. If you really want it reactivated, try proving that there's interest by a petition process, signed by people pledging participation. Only then--and with the staff reorganized, I doubt everyone will still be in place--would it be considered.
2005-12-08 [SeLoCeS]: i would still help out if we reopened but i am but one person
2005-12-08 [Askoga]: I would be willing to help re-open this wiki, also, and I would gladly commit myself to its upkeep again. However, I agree with Nightshadow that a petition showing that people would be willing to pledge themselves to participation in the wiki would be a very good idea. Else, the wiki will simply peter out and die again.
2005-12-08 [Askoga]: In fact, I have now written up EWPDA Petition. If you are interrested in seeing this wiki open once again, please visit it. And thank Nightshadow for the idea to write it.
2005-12-28 [Simply Real]: Hmmm... Id love to join up to something like this. Been awhile since I've dueled anyone *smirks*
2005-12-28 [Dil*]: Oh dear, this used to be such a popular page....I tried being a part of the staff, but then I didn't do anything. Sorry. I had alot on my mind for a while with the town herald and whatnot.
2005-12-28 [Simply Real]: I pledge to stay loyal and be apart of this! heh ill spread the word.
2005-12-28 [Simply Real]: Hmmm this is a really good idea... just need more people to stumble upon it.
2005-12-29 [SeLoCeS]: we do have alot of watchers for this page but i just dont know where they are hidding these days lol
2005-12-30 [G:/enesis~]: Hello fellow poets
2005-12-30 [Simply Real]: hmm bring them out of hiding!
2005-12-30 [G:/enesis~]: o wait... uh oh.. I remember you... heh..well its been fun talking to you all.. umm Ta!!
2006-01-10 [Askoga]: Right, the arena is back up. Please, feel free to begin submitting poetry! Any aspiring staff members, please message me. Those of you who signed the petition desiring to be staff, I will be in contact (that's my next order of business, actually). Please be thinking about which category you would like to head. Also, Sad has now been combined with Dark, to give us fewer options for submitting poetry. As participation picks up, and we get more staff members, that category and others will be added back in. Thank you all for your time! Enjoy.
2006-01-10 [Seamus Schwathe]: Anyone else want to try the Jovial category? I'd like someone to do it with...
2006-01-10 [Kileaiya]: May you enter more that one poem at once, if it is in a different category?
2006-01-10 [Askoga]: Yes, you may. However, you can not enter two poems into the same category at one time. It wouldn't be fair if your poem dueled another of your poems.
2006-01-11 [Askoga]: There has been a poem submitted to the Jovial category, if you're still interested in dueling there, Seamus.
2006-01-11 [Seamus Schwathe]: A submission? It's still blank... But I am still interested.
2006-01-11 [Askoga]: It'll stay blank until next Sunday, if there are two or more submissions in that category. All poems that are submitted are moved to an appropriate wiki when I or another staff member can get to them.
2006-01-11 [Seamus Schwathe]: So where would I submit mine to?
2006-01-11 [Linderel]: Yay, it's open! Now I need to see if I currently have any poems I could submit...
2006-01-11 [Dil*]: hmm, was I still awaiting a challenger on sad? I think I may have won last for that duel...
2006-01-12 [Askoga]: I'm sorry, but all poems that were competing before the arena closed have been removed. If you wish to resubmit your poem to duel again, you may do so. Also, Sad has now been combined with Dark, to make it easier for our limited staff to keep the arena running smoothly.
2006-01-13 [Dil*]: Oh, I see, okay.
2006-01-13 [SeLoCeS]: I am back again to take Realistic so anyone feeling the need to put in a poem for this topic please do ....
2006-01-15 [Seamus Schwathe]: A "How It Works" page, for the confused such as myself, explaining the dueling process would help most wonderfully.
2006-01-15 [Jovial]: After this week, there will usually always be at least one category dueling, to give visitors and duelists alike an idea of the process. Since there were none (until now), I will explain. Only two poems duel at a time in each category, and the head of each category sets up a poll in the wiki, in which anyone may vote for whichever poem they think is better. Names and user names are left out of the dueling chamber, so there is less chance for cheating. At the end of one week, the duel is closed, and the poem with the most votes wins. The winner remains in the dueling chamber, and a new duel begins if there is another challenger. If there is a tie, the duel is extended for another week.
